hello! my name is Kristen young and I am so thankful you are considering hiring a doula.

I am an East Tennessee native and a graduate of Maryville College. After graduating from MC, I became a high school English teacher and have been serving my community since 2007. In addition to obtaining my Bachelor’s degree, I also hold a Masters of Education in Counseling and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration & Supervision.

My love of all things pregnancy and birth began when my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child. I was fortunate to have a birth team that included my husband and birth doula. Not even two years later, we were pregnant with our second child. Neither of us hesitated to contact our birth doula to be by our side for our second baby’s birth.

Because of the overwhelming love and support I received with our first pregnancy, it became my dream to offer the same love and support to expectant mothers and their partners as they welcome each new family member. I began my own doula journey as I was pregnant with our second child. My pregnancy and birth with our second child only reinforced my passion and love for everything pregnancy and birth.

I know that not all births go as planned; however, it is my desire to support each family in the best way that I can. I want families to know that they have the physical and emotional support from me no matter how they choose to birth. I provide my clients with information so that they can make the best evidence-based birth decisions for themselves. It is my desire to support, educate, and encourage my clients, their partners, and their families.

I am proud to say that I have obtained my birth doula certification through ICEA (International Childbirth Education Association) and am an ICEA certified Birth Doula. In addition to being a certified Birth Doula, I am also a certified 4TFM Instructor. I keep my certifications up to date and am always excited to learn more and grow as a birth professional.

Regardless of your birth plan, it is my prayer for you and your family to look back on your birth experience knowing you were supported and loved. I pray that you have a birth experience that you can be proud of. Please do not hesitate to reach out so that we can meet to discuss any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you and your family.
